Corpus Christie, Texas “rump convention”

Apr 29, 2008 in Ron Paul General

Many delegates are finding that the local GOP are using various methods to disenfranchise Ron Paul delegates. One such ploy is to introduce the slate of delegates without reading the names so that people will know if their names are on the slate. In this manner delegates can be elected who may not have gone thought the legitimate process and are substituted for Ron Paul delegates. Many delegates are surprised when that gavel comes down and a second is declared and the selection slate is approved. What can be done to prohibit an illegal convention? People have been given a legitimate process to follow in this case and it is called a “rump convention.” This is when delegates openly challenge the legitimacy of the “official” convention and state that they are having a “rump” convention - or a convention that we be held outside the official convention for purposes of electing “legal” delegates. A record of the proceedings are then presented to the Credentials committee for resolution.

Make sure that you record the proceedings in the official convention (audio is good, video is better) and the official call for the rump convention. Also record the rump convention. If the state party refuses to acknowledge the duly elected delegates from the rump convention, you can appeal to the Republican National Committee.

A word of caution: Please read your state party rules, your state party bi-laws and the portion of your state election code which dictates party procedures, Often times the state statutes will mirror the party rules. If so, then you also have state law on your side and an appeal can also be made to the state Attorney General.

Hats off to our Corpus members who held our first recorded “rump convention”! Following is an audio of those proceedings. Please keep in mind that this is a last resort, but if Roberts Rules are not being followed, this may be your only alternative.

And remember, Theodore Roosevelt’s delegates held “rump” conventions all over the United States in the 1912 election. The credentials committee refused to recognize the delegates and the “Progressive” Party was formed with Roosevelt as it’s nominee. Although it has not been used widely in the last 60 or so years, it is a legitimate way for the “people” to call for a legitimate delegate election process and challenge and illegal official convention.

Also remember that video cameras were not invented yet so it was hard to prove what actually went on. That is not the case today. The “proof” will be undeniable and if an illegal national convention is held that can be videoed as well. I need to do some research and find out if there are any other alternatives if there is an illegal national convention held such as appealing to the U.S. Attorney General.

Excerpt from the 1912 Convention: (inspiring for us all! Please read it!) Excerpt from 1912 Rump Convention

And now our Corpus members have done the same thing except they have audio! Here it is!

Delegate Selection by State

Feb 29, 2008 in Delegate Selection, Grassroots Tools, Ron Paul General

We want to thank the Republican Source for this in depth information. For information specific to you state go to http://www.republicansource.com/primaries.htm
Convention Delegates

Total Number of Delegates: 2488

The allocation of delegates to the 2008 Republican National Convention, which will be held September 1-4, 2008 in a city to be announced in early 2007, is determined as follows:

BASE DELEGATES Each state selects six at-large delegates. American Samoa, Virgin Islands & Guam have four at-large delegates each; Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia have fourteen at-large delegates.

DISTRICT DELEGATES Each state also selects three delegates for each member it has in the U.S. House of Representatives

BONUS DELEGATES Each state can earn additional delegates by meeting one or more of the following requirements: the state cast a majority of its votes for the Republican presidential candidate in the previous presidential election, the state elected Republicans to the U.S. House or Senate, selected a Republican Governor or state legislative majorities, and / or the state holds its presidential primary election after March 15th (this is to discourage states from holding early primaries).

Bonus delegates are awarded based on the number of party members elected as Presidential Electors (2004), Governors (2004-2007), House members (2004-2007), Senators (2002-2007), and state legislatures (2004-2007).

Republican delegate counts are based on the number of Republicans elected to the State Legislatures, Governors chairs, U.S. House seats, and U.S. Senators seats through 31 December 2007. Republican unpledged delegate counts are determined by state (or equivalent) party rules and assume that the policies of 2004 will apply in 2008.

Delegate Selection Processes in the States

Delegates are awarded based on the results of Primaries, Caucuses and/or Convention votes. There are significant differences in the way national convention delegates are chosen from state to state. Some states award delegates to candidates on a “winner-take-all” basis, meaning that the candidate with the most votes in a state during a primary election is awarded all of that state’s delegates. Other states award delegates in proportion to each candidate’s share of the primary vote.

Another important distinction is whether delegates are “bound” or “not bound” to vote for the same candidate the voters in his or her state or district supported in the primary. These rules also vary widely by state.

What Happens When a Candidate Bows Out?

When an individual formally releases delegates already pledged to him or her - a withdrawing candidate must specifically free his/her own delegates to vote for whomever they might choose during the Convention - it is not a requirement for those delegates to vote for another candidate who is endorsed by the withdrawing candidate.

However, history has demonstrated that most, if not all, delegates pledged to a candidate who has released them will follow that candidate’s lead and vote for the candidate he/she has endorsed. Nevertheless, a withdrawing candidate may not release delegates pledged to him/her so long as the presidential nomination is still undetermined (after all, these delegates can be a valuable bargaining chip for future considerations). Even where a nomination is already determined, a presidential candidate who represents the Party fringe might hold onto his delegates as long as possible in order to get concessions.

Delegate Allocation

For Jurisdictions with Constitutionally Elected Members of Congress:

  • 10 At-Large delegates from each state, that is, 5 at-large delegates for each U.S. Senator.
  • 3 District delegates for each U.S. Representative.

For Jurisdictions without Constitutionally Elected Members of Congress:

  • 6 at-large delegates from American Samoa.
  • 16 at-large delegates from the District of Columbia.
  • 6 at-large delegates from Guam.
  • 6 at-large delegates from Northern Mariana Islands
  • 20 at-large delegates from Puerto Rico.
  • 6 at-large delegates from Virgin Islands.

For all Jurisdictions - 3 party leaders: the national committeeman, the national committee woman, and the chairman of the state Republican Party.

Bonus Delegates:

  • 2004 Bonus: States casting a majority of their 2004 Electoral Votes for the Republican Candidate receive 4.5 + 0.60 × the Jurisdiction’s Total 2004 Electoral Vote bonus delegates. Should the District of Columbia cast the majority of their electoral votes for the Republican Candidate, the District will receive 4.5 + (0.30 × 16) bonus delegates. (Round any fractions UP to the next integer.)
  • U.S. Senate: Award 1 bonus delegate for each Republican Senator elected in the 6 year period (November 5, 2002, November 2, 2004, November 7, 2006) prior to January 1, 2008. (Limit 2)
  • Governor: States electing a Republican Governor between January 1, 2004 and December 31, 2007 receive 1 bonus delegate. (Limit: 1)
  • U.S. House: States electing Republicans to 50% or more of the their U.S. House seats between January 1, 2004 and December 31, 2007 receive 1 bonus delegate. (Limit 1)
  • One Chamber: States electing a Republican majority to one chamber of the state legislature (OR the legislature is presided over by a Republican) receive 1 bonus delegate. (Limit 1).
  • All Chambers: States electing a Republican majority to all chambers of the state legislature (or all chambers are presided over by a Republican) between January 1, 2004 and December 31, 2007 receive 1 bonus delegate. (Limit 1).

Newcomer to Politics

Feb 28, 2008 in Ron Paul General

I am a newcomer to this arena, and while not all that excited about it, I have had to realize that if everyone did as I have done for 69 years, i.e. stay removed from it, then what would happen is exactly what HAS happened, that is the enemy takes over.

That being said, I am principally a writer, believing still that in at least some respects the pen is mightier than the sword.

I was on the Penny Freeman call on Tuesday night, and was very pleased to hear that there are many others who share my thoughts and feelings.

Well, to make this short, at our recent Kennebec County Maine Republican Party caucus, I allowed myself, for better or for worse, to get elected as secretary of the Republican Party here in the town I live in. One has to start somewhere.

I look at Ron Paul and the fact that he has stood solid for 20 years ?? swimming upstream, not running away, and it gives me courage.

 Sincerely,

David E. Gregory Sr.

March on America

Feb 24, 2008 in Ron Paul General

As a prelude to the march on Washington, we envision and are actively promoting rallies and demonstrations in major cities throughout the States on April 15th. This will serve many functions, including the rallying of our troops to show the significance of our numbers nationwide. Let us come together en masse with all other groups that are against the unconstitutional “income tax” and let our voices be heard.
As the Granny Warriors do their part to bring the movement’s message to Washington on April 15th, those of us who cannot get to our nation’s capital that day can band together in our cities to show that this is truly a nationwide effort.
We have applied for a permit to demonstrate here in Atlanta at Centennial Park(coincidentally just outside of CNN’s HQ) and are seeking organizers from other cities. We have just launched the website revolutionmarches.com with the intention of spreading this event far and wide.
There is a planned event at the Fed building in Pittsburgh, Pa. and more to follow. Check it out here: taxday08.com
Let’s all come together and make this April 15th a day to remember, maybe even a date for the history books of the future free America that has had its government repossessed by We the People!

R3volution Campaign Consulting

by former Ron Paul Congressional Campaign Staffer

Ever wonder how Ron Paul could win in his district over and over again despite all odds? Republicans, Democrats and Independents have tried to unseat him. They even tried redistricting him out of a job and that didn’t work either! Thanks to the Freedom message and his long time faithful and aggressive Congressional campaign staff, he has managed to not only hold on to his seat but he keeps winning by wider margins.

Dr Paul’s former District Political Director has agreed to work with us to help some select candidates continue “The Revolution”. We know that we have to take back this country one race at time, and the best place to start is with the most powerful jobs at the local level.

Penny Langford-Freeman was Dr. Paul’s district political director and managed all grassroots activities. Penny has made a name for herself in Dr. Paul’s district and across the entire state of Texas. She is a sought after speaker as she has been Dr. Paul’s spokesman for the last decade, in District 14 and beyond. Penny knows how to build grassroots momentum, to fight hard and win races.

Our commitment is to those who are TRULY Constitutional Conservatives and who will run to win on Dr. Ron Paul’s Freedom Message. NO RINOs NEED APPLY!

For candidates who wish to take advantage of this unique opportunity, please send us your resume, outline your Ron Paul credentials, three recommendations, any demographics and the office you are seeking. You must also sign the release form which allows us to check your background history. We will research and verify what you tell us. You will be called to determine your commitment and qualifications.

The next step is to refer you to Penny for a second screening and if you meet certain criteria (we are dead serious about Ron Paul credentials) then Penny will work with you to win your race.

Once again, we do not want to waste your time or Penny’s expertise, so please do not apply unless you are serious and have the stated credentials.

Here is a list of documents you will need. So please print or scan them into your computer. Then, e-mail them to us at carol@RonPaulPublic.com. Please put your resume, Ron Paul credentials and any other documents you send to us in Word format. If you cut and paste them into an e-mail, the formatting will not come through. No hard copies please!

Document list:

  1. Resume
  2. Ron Paul credentials

Idea to send the GOP a Message and a way to Break them and create more chaos

Feb 16, 2008 in Ron Paul General

Okay an idea to banter around:

Have a WE ARE THE GOP AND THE TRUE CONSERVATIVES MONEY BOMB DAY
Correlated with the Tax rebate check issuance. Right before Delegates meet in State Conventions.
Huckabee and McCain have had trouble raising funds and the GOP keeps soliciting funds. They know they are in trouble so lets send the GOP a message!

So we Raise RON PAUL funds to show them we are money.

Get a team assembled to work and promote on youtube, myspace and all over. As well as local meetups.

Also start a team to tell the truths about McCain and Huckabee immediately. (Their voting records and their record in general)

We do not need to promote this till say Late March but then hit it hard and promote it like never before. Encourage anyone who can to max out and everyone to donate whatever they can.

In Old English hunting The Top Dogs went in to cripple the prey and when the prey was down in came the underdogs to finish them off. That is where the term underdog came from.

Let’s make history and show them what the Underdog can DO!!!

Blogs for Victo(R)y

Feb 16, 2008 in Grassroots Tools, Ron Paul General

Found a good place for us intelligent Republicans to cheer our next president on. It’s on the GOP wesite’s blogroll and called, appropriately enough, by the title of this post. They seem to need some encouragement there and seem to be talking more about the Dem’s than encouraging our own victory. I can only leave comments at this point, but thought I would share this, under the “Why Hillary and Obama Put Trial Lawyers Before Saving American Lives” title:

You know if we all did what we know deep down is right we wouldn’t be wasting space here talking about the donkeys.

We have a candidate capable of slamming the coming leftist sellout. One that offers real change. I like my silver and gold coins, how about you? We all know that the FEDERAL RESERVE BANK has done a poor job of maintaining our monetary integrity and that Congress has been lax in its duty to assert its authority over regulation thereof. We can have a sound monetary system with the right man at the helm.

We must reverse the trend of worldwide damage wreaked by our current foreign policy. We should be defending our own borders and supporting our troops by keeping them out of harm’s way. Building bases in Iraq for another invasion of yet another sovereign nation is not why our people join the Defense Department. If anyone thinks we are going to stop all other nations from selling their oil for whatever currency they wish with military force I say we would have been better off spending the trillion or so we spent on the current two invasions buying the oil while that paper was still worth something and saved the bloodshed. Now we are stretched thin, have draft proposals, and our borders are wide open. No wonder the military support our best nominee more than any other.

Our government is sick and our very sovereignty as a nation is fading. We need the right prescription to revive ourselves as the greatest nation on earth so that we can once again be a world leading example of a free society. Fortunately, we have a doctor who knows just the right remedy and just in time to administer the large dose we so desperately need. We are so lucky to be blessed with our Constitution, which is the timeless contract in such need of enforcement. Administered properly, we can be revived and rediscover the greatness of America designed in that document.

We Republicans should be rallying together and uniting at this point, and cheering on the champion of our Constitution. Let’s win the presidency with the genuine candidate who promises the “change” we all know we need. The one we know can beat either of those two asses in the general election. The one with the racecars in the “formerly Busch” racing series.

Onward to Victory !

Long live the Republic ! !

I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I did writing it!

Hello Ron Paul Supporters

I am an elected Delegate to the Alaskan Republican Convention.

Myself and thirteen other elected Delegates have begun meeting to plan our convention strategy, and we are seeking all other elected Alaskan delegates committed to Ron Paul’s candidacy to join us in this effort.

To that end, please contact me if you wish to join our new group, or if you have a message to our group members.    For obvious strategic reasons, membership in the new group is private and limited only to confirmed Ron Paul supporters who are also elected delegates to the Alaska Republican Convention.  So far we have just 13 members from 7 districts, so we know there must be more of you out there.  Please help us find and confirm all the delegates so we can work well together!

Please contact me with your name, email, phone number, and district number, if you were elected as a delegate in Alaska, and wish to work with us to plan and execute our convention strategy.

Further, by this time next week, we will update all the major Ron Paul meetups in Alaska with lists of things we hope you can (and will) do to help us make most effective use of our power at the State and National Republican Conventions, in March and September, respectively.

Our delegate group will establish a regular channel so any and all Ron Paul supporters can work with us.

Thank you for your time,

Evan

Ron Paul supporters launch billboard in his home state of Texas

Ron Paul Billboards is proud to announce the first ever grassroots funded billboard supporting a Presidential candidate in Austin, TX.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(PRLog.Org) – Feb 12, 2008 – Coinciding with the 1 year anniversary of the commencement of Congressman Ron Paul’s 2008 Presidential campaign, this project was initiated and paid for by numerous supporters via the website RonPaulBillboards.com. The billboard promotes Ron Paul’s core message of liberty and will run for 4 weeks. It’s located in the heart of downtown aside the bustling and at times heavily congested Interstate 35 highway. This prime location in the entertainment district near the Capitol and University of Texas, has the potential to reach over 5 million commuters in the 3 weeks preceding the March 4th Texas primary. The historic launch of this billboard demonstrates the steadfast support for Presidential candidate and Texas Congressman Ron Paul, who is also currently running to keep his Congressional seat in Texas’s 14th district.

Ron Paul Billboards was founded by Kerry and Harold Gray in November of 2007, to support Ron Paul by displaying ads on billboards publicizing his campaign issues. Through contributions on their website RonPaulBillboards.com, they launched billboards in early primary states such as Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Manchester, New Hampshire; and two in Columbia, South Carolina. Now in their home state, they are extremely pleased to be a part of this historic display of Ron Paul’s message of freedom, peace, and prosperity in downtown Austin. Ben Godwin recently joined their team and is currently the lead graphics designer responsible for the outstanding Austin, Texas billboard design. Important issues such as, ending the war, strengthening the dollar and supporting the Constitution are displayed in the 14 x 48 ft. ad. More than merely a campaign, this movement is bringing about a transformation of ideas. “It will not end at the Republican convention. It will not end in November. It will not end until we have won the great battle on which we have embarked. Not because of me, but because of you. Millions of Americans — and friends in many other countries — have dedicated themselves to the principles of liberty: to free enterprise, limited government, sound money, no income tax, and peace. We will not falter so long as there is one restriction on our persons, our property, our civil liberties.”, states Ron Paul. In his latest correspondence video uploaded on Youtube, he calls for a national march in Washington D.C. to physically demonstrate the size of this freedom movement.

The phenomenal grassroots support for Ron Paul endures, thanks to generous and freedom loving individuals who have come together in the hope of real change for America. There were 11 Republican candidates, now just three remain. Dr. Paul forges ahead and as he proceeds further, people are increasingly drawn to his fiscally conservative values and libertarian views. His adamant supporters are committed to this crusade, and their ideals shall persevere in the hearts and minds of those involved in the Ron Paul Revolution. The Ron Paul 2008 campaign did not authorize or have any involvement in the concepts, designs or funding of the billboards.

The Revolution News

Media blackout on Ron Paul?

Don’t get angry, get even!

The Revolution News Vol 1, #1

Because our “leaders” have allowed five major corporations to control all the news outlets: radio, television, newspapers, and magazines.

Because we now cannot hear, read, or see “news” that is unbiased and uncontrolled.

We now must resort to revolutionary techniques to get our message out. Our message may easily be gotten out to the “sleeping hypnoticed masses” via:

Querilla Tactics:
1- a- Flyers. Make your own and go to your local copy shop to make hundreds of copies.

b- Take these flyers and stuff them into local newspapers, magazines, and free publications.

Sorry media, but we are not getting equal time, so we are going to take the equal time that we should have had in the first place!

If you have to put in fifty cents to open the newspaper dispenser in order to do this just consider that part of the cost of the revolution.

c- You may even want to consider taking on a part-time job delivering newspapers, magazines, or phone books so that you and your team may first stuff them with your flyers.

d- If you print-up some half-page flyers, they can be stuffed into books at your local library, bookstores, menus of restaurants, etc.

Be creative and make a commitment to yourself as to what you will do and for how long. Do not bring attention to yourself by wearing apparel that identifies your cause. We are now doing underground work! Your automobile must now not have any stickers that identifies your sentiment.

e- Your flyers may send people to different web sites or sources of more information. Make sure that in your flyers you put in at least two different references for more information so that no one is blamed for your guerilla tactics. And make sure that you do not put your name or even a Post Office Box for yourself. You want to remain aunonomous!

2- Radio: There are many talk radio stations that you may target in order to express your views weekly. Make a list of these stations, what type of subject matter is usually discussed, their phone number, etc. Then, figure out your strategy and work it little by little until you are real good at it. Then, if you want you may expand it to your state and other states. Mainstream media is what we want to tackle. The internet is not as important at this time as the information there is flowing freely.

Dr. Paul is going the distance - and his “Children of Liberty” will go with him

Feb 12, 2008 in Ron Paul General

Calling all Dr. Paul’s Children of Liberty - March on Washington

I wrote this post a few days ago and just haven’t posted it. But after looking at the video I think it is pertinent.

Now it is all falling into place. Dr. Paul intends to graduate us in November and he expects us to go out in the “workforce” and use what he has taught us!

It all makes sense to me know, the phone call with Dr. Paul the other night when he said he would keep on fighting. Then his e-mail which basically was trying to let us down easy by letting us know that he thought it was improbable that we would win but would keep fighting.

I’ve been depressed for days too, but I think I know exactly what Dr. Paul’s intentions are: To get as many converts and delegates who will spread the Freedom message before election day which is when he plans to graduate us!. And any good educator wants to graduate as many good students as possible. To do this we must all stay in school – and learn as much as we can, about brokered conventions, about delegates, Roberts Rules of Order, etc. We still have a lot to learn. So hang in there – we still have a ways to go! And by remaining a candidate, he continues to be in a position to draws thousands to hear his Freedom message. What a brilliant plan.

Whenever I get depressed I go to you tube and watch videos – of him and about him. It always perks up my spirits.

So last night I watched his incredible speech before 8500 People at Liberty University, ….and then I watched the several thousand person rally (or so it seemed) at Michigan state,…and then I saw his speech to cpac….and then…. and on… and on…. until very late into the night.

I watched it all with fascination because I saw Dr. Paul the way I used to see him in Texas talking to the folks, in his element so to speak. Granted although his district loves him, 8500 in attendance would be a stretch but I’m saying he was the same relaxed, thoughtful, loving and patient educator even so.

Not the elderly seemingly retired gentleman on the stage being snubbed by the media and the other candidates.

I once again saw a robust Dr. Paul. One who looked at Carol, his wife, and grinned with pride when he heard the eloquence with which young speakers were introducing him, you could see his face glow and Carol lean into him and whisper, and then both of them smiling at each other. Dr. Paul and Carol were looking lovingly at their “children of Liberty” and noted that those children had grown and had taken handsome command of the Constitution.

Yes, Dr. Paul would have made a great President and he still may be, but I am more convinced than ever that Dr. Paul has accomplished exactly what he wanted to accomplish. He is a humble man, and precious to us all. He has loved us and taught us and slaved with us. As one person said he has carried us on his back for 30 years. While many of us were too busy with other things he continued to carry the message of freedom and keep enough of our liberties for us that when the day finally came and people woke up that it wouldn’t be too late.

The time is now and the people are us – his children of liberty!

And now it is time to carry him. I’m prepared to keep working up to the convention and beyond. In the “beyond” we will have graduated and I think we need to honor our teacher. There would be no better way to honor him than to give him a report card from his Children of Liberty! How many constitutional candidates have we elected? How many precinct have we taken over for the next election, how many more children are being home schooled etc., etc.

Ron Paul started it.

It’s up to us to finish it.

BreakTheMatrix.com <– Take back the Media!

Feb 12, 2008 in Grassroots Speak, Press/Media takeover, Ron Paul General

To All Ron Paul Supporters And Our Friends In The Grassroots

This is the beginning, ladies and gentlemen. The beginning of the end for the stranglehold of the mainstream media. The beginning of the end for the masters in high places. The beginning of the end for the media blackout of the values and philosophies expressed by Ron Paul and other political candidates that share his views. The beginning of the time when we take our country back.

It starts right here, at BreakTheMatrix.com. We are forming a grassroots organization and movement that will carry the words and values of freedom off the Internet and out to those millions of Americans who only receive their news and entertainment from mainstream radio and television. As Dr. Paul himself said so well on February 9, 2008: “The neocons, the warmongers, the socialists, the advocates of inflation will be hearing much from you and me.” Indeed. The tired, empty mantras of “right and left,” of “conservative and liberal,” of “Democrat and Republican,” will no longer stand unchallenged in our mainstream media outlets. Freedom, prosperity, peace, hope—the great ideas are coming to America.

Here’s How

We’re starting our own grassroots media company. Basic Media, Inc. (in formation) will create, build and connect Internet based radio and television outlets for freedom voices and faces around the United States and worldwide. The newly forming company will develop a wide ranging array of interesting and entertaining content on the web, and transmit our shows to mainstream “off the Internet” people through a variety of communications technologies and strategies. We’re talking right now to syndicators, producers, advertising specialists, and our many grassroots friends about how this goal can best be achieved. These are friends with ideas; with skills; and with vision. Friends who understand how to develop and utilize top of the line content and the technologies needed for creation and transmittal of entertaining and informative radio and television shows to a “non Internet” mainstream audience. Very simply, we’re creating a new media network. And we’re inviting you to be part of it.

The Internet prototypes are already in existence. We in the grassroots have watched them take root over the course of the Ron Paul presidential campaign—and what tremendous work the early media pioneers have been doing! Two online radio stations have been up and running for months at ronpaulradio.com and rprradio.com. These volunteer radio outlets have provided a platform for dozens of outstanding radio hosts who spread the news of our Ron Paul movement 24/7 across the worldwide web. And the growth of online video capability has been even more impressive. The spontaneous creation of Youtube content about Ron Paul and his message is a grand story in its own right. Myspace.com has provided some powerful tools. And Justintv.com has broken new ground every day with video streams broadcasting in real time from events in the Ron Paul campaign. The core technologies are already in place for high quality content creation and delivery on the web, and Basic Media, Inc. will take this process to the next higher level with syndication and delivery platform strategies that carry our message to the radios and television sets of every household in America. Break the monopoly of the establishment media! Break the wall of silence that stifles voices of truth in our nation! Break the matrix. With Basic Media, Inc.

While “off Internet” content delivery is our first and most readily achievable goal, there is a second core aspect to what we’ll be doing in the new company. This whole process is all about organization, and communication, and the implementation of social networking tools that will bring people together as a positive force for change in America. There are many of us now. We are all across the country. So we need to find each other; to do business together; to share stories and strategies; and to build this grand freedom movement on a going forward basis that will flourish and thrive long after the 2008 presidential campaign is over. The inspiring work of grassroots organizers at ronpaulforums.com; at dailypaul.com; at meetup groups; and at other locations all across the Internet has shown us the great power of networking tools that are already in existence. The early organizers have started a process, and there is much to build upon. But the movement for change is barely beginning, and there’s so much more that we can do to bring people together. Building a nationwide/worldwide community—the second key goal of Basic Media, Inc.

Rick Williams and Trevor Lyman are the initial organizers and executive officers of the new entity in formation. For over 34 years, Mr. Williams has been a practicing lawyer in Los Angeles, California. He is a graduate of UCLA School of Law (JD 1973), where he served on the Board of Editors of the UCLA Law Review. Mr. Williams was a business administration major at Washington State University (BA 1969), and he worked in the finance and accounting group at Shell Oil Company before entering law school. Mr. Williams is an avid student of the Austrian school of economics, and he hosted radio shows throughout the Ron Paul presidential campaign talking about the Federal Reserve system and the practices of our bankers. Trevor Lyman became widely known as a grassroots fundraiser for the November 5 moneybomb, the Teaparty moneybomb, and RonPaul Blimp.com. Mr. Lyman has been the subject of numerous media profiles and interviews as a result of his efforts, and he is perhaps the most recognizable name and face in the grassroots movement. You’ve seen what Trevor Lyman has done, and you know the results that he achieved for the Ron Paul campaign. Rick Williams and Trevor Lyman have been two of the activists, but we’re not here to speak of the past. The future is what matters. So this is what we’re planning to do.

Here Are the Specifics

Basic Media, Inc., the new corporation in formation, will be structured to create and transmit top quality radio and television shows using Internet technology platforms. We hope to draw from the enormous pool of talent that already exists in the freedom movement, and capture the very best content for packaging and distribution to mainstream radio and television outlets off the web and across the United States. Our “off Internet” distribution opportunities are wide ranging and diverse—everything from nationwide/worldwide satellite delivery to locally owned radio and television stations. We’ll pick and choose. We’ll select and utilize the most valuable and efficient delivery strategies that are available for our content.

How about cash flow? Like any other media outlet, our revenues will derive primarily from the sale of advertising time. Basic Media, Inc. will be operating as a “for profit” business, and isn’t that what it’s all about? Our goal and objective is to create and deliver high quality content, spread the values and philosophies that we believe in, and make a profit in the process. There are no guarantees of profitability, of course, and we all must recognize that media advertising is a highly competitive market. The effort to achieve profitability will be challenging, and we should not fool ourselves into thinking that high paying advertisers will magically appear on our doorstep. But advertisers are constantly looking for emerging markets and new ways to get their messages out to the community. And for the most part, existing media entities don’t own their advertisers. If we capture a mainstream audience, we believe the advertisers will follow. This is how the matrix can be broken.

Basic Media, Inc. is not a political entity, and we will not affiliate with existing or future campaigns of Ron Paul or any other candidate for elective office. We will fully and cheerfully comply with all “equal time” requirements of the Federal Election Commission and other election authorities. Indeed, we welcome the opportunity to compare (and contrast) our values and philosophies of freedom, prosperity, peace and hope with those of candidates seeking election under the banner of any political party. We can sponsor debates; host candidate forums; and provide analysis of candidate positions. Our content delivery platform can be used to shed the light of truth on any serious candidate for office, and we will work to replace the existing closed media system with a free marketplace of political ideas. Picture, for example, a debate session organized by Basic Media, Inc. where Ron Paul, John McCain and Hillary Clinton/Barack Obama all receive “equal time.” An intriguing thought, isn’t it? Nothing more need be said on the subject of political activism.

This document is an initial “solicitation of interest” issued pursuant to section 254 of Part 230–General Rules and Regulations, Securities Act of 1933. We are preparing a Regulation A initial public offering of stock over the Internet through the medium of electronic delivery of securities information. Basic Media, Inc. (the newly forming company) will offer a total of 500,000 shares of common stock to the public at a price of $10 per share, with a minimum purchase requirement of 10 shares per individual purchaser. If the offering is fully subscribed and sold, the public shareholders of Basic Media, Inc. will own a total of 41.67% of the outstanding common stock of the company as of the closing date. You may indicate your interest in participation in the stock offering by visiting the website, entering your email address and pressing pledge at the top of the page. Thereafter, you might wish to visit this website at BreakTheMatrix.com for information as to when the Offering Circular will be ready for review, and when binding stock subscription documents will be available for delivery. To the extent needed, we will also provide email updates regarding our progress.

Basic Media, Inc. is organizing as a grassroots response to the deficiencies that are so glaringly obvious in our existing mainstream media structure. The company founders are confident and hopeful about our prospects for success, but none of us should underestimate the scope of the challenge that lies ahead. It’s a big task, and our success depends on your help, your talents, your energy, and your commitment to the goal of bringing real change to America. So tell us your ideas for the new venture. Write to either of us at the email addresses on this page. Share with us your talents, and let us know your views about how the new entity might best fulfill its mission. This document is the first step in a lengthy securities offering process, and please take careful note of the following rules and requirements issued by the Securities and Exchange Commission:

(1) No money or other consideration is being solicited at this time, and if sent in response, will not be accepted;

(2) No sale of the securities will be made or commitment to purchase accepted until delivery of an offering circular that includes complete information about the issuer and the offering;

(3) Any indication of interest made by a prospective investor involves no obligation or commitment of any kind.

We’re looking forward to hearing from you, and we close this letter with a few simple words that Ron Paul has spoken often on the presidential campaign trail. Dr. Paul says: “Let’s have fun!”

Very truly yours,

Basic Media, Inc. (in formation)

We are not associated or affiliated with Ron Paul or his campaigns for President and Congress.

Dr. Paul has a home - and it is with US. And our home is with Him! Back off!

Feb 11, 2008 in Ron Paul General

This infuriates me. The party of pot has done nothing to help Dr. Paul and indeed has done his Presidency much harm. If they had gotten behind him when he first announced we may have had the Presidency in our stronghold. Instead, they couldn’t stand to see Dr. Paul rise to such an office unless he did it under the Libertarian Party label. Hence, they are no better than the other two parties - their interest is in the bureaucracy of their Party - not the man who runs the country.

I have been a Libertarian in theory myself for many years but their tactics are no different, their goals are no different, and their lack of decency and decorum as evidenced by this letter to Ron Paul supporters, (on the very eve of an e-mail sent by Dr. Paul, preparing us for what was in store) certainly rivals that of anything the other Parties have done.

Personally, I have nothing against pot or any other drugs for that matter. It is a personal preference and if you want to kill yourself, go ahead - just don’t ask me to pay your hospital bill if you fail. I do however, resent the Libertarian Party for their emphasis on this and the harm so of the members have done to the Paul candidacy.

So I say to the Libertarian Party - you have no home to come to. Dr. Paul has a home - and it is with US. And our home is with Him. We don’t need Party labels and Party structure. We are the R3volution and if YOU want a home YOU better be the ones to get on board! Your Party will be nothing without US unless we ALLl as a Ron Paul Revolutionaries decide to take over the Party. But don’t get too comfortable because once we take over you will be gone

February 9, 2008

FROM THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY:

Dear friend,

Late Friday evening, Ron Paul sent out a message to his many supporters stating that he had a “nearly zero” chance of winning the Republican nomination in a brokered convention. Dr. Paul also stated loud and clear that “there will be no third party run.”

Many of our own members, maybe even you, have been enthusiastic supporters of Dr. Paul’s campaign over the past year. Many thousands have given their time, money and their passion to support the efforts of Ron Paul’s presidential campaign.

The efforts of these thousands of supporters were noble, but in the end, Republicans rejected Dr. Paul’s message of peace, prosperity and freedom.

The GOP will more than likely move forward with the nomination of a compromising politician who does not cherish the merits of liberty and shows little interest in shrinking the size and power of government.

This leaves the Republican Party right where it started and where it has been for many, many years — a party without principle. With its partner on the left, both parties continue to represent a compromising beast that continually thirsts for more power at the expense of our liberty, our property and our privacy.

In stark contrast, the Libertarian Party stands firm. Our values are unwavering. Our commitment is unstoppable.

This is not because we hold a strong partisan loyalty to our party structure, it’s because we have trust and love for liberty in its purest form. Our party serves as the vessel to affect change within our nation. And unlike the GOP, we don’t need to change the party from within and regain our principles, as they have never been lost.

The Libertarian Party is the last remaining stronghold for liberty in American politics.

Unfortunately, the Ron Paul campaign has unintentionally taken a toll on our party. Many of our members have changed their voter registration to vote for Ron Paul in a primary while others have allowed their support to lapse as they gave all that they could for a candidate that represented their values.

Early on, I made the decision to not interfere or discourage this activity. I felt it was wrong for me to place our party above such an incredible opportunity for liberty that existed with Dr. Paul’s run for the White House.

But today, it’s time to come home.

If you have switched your party registration, allowed your membership to lapse or have put off your decision to join the LP, I now ask that you reverse course and renew your support for our principled party.

In spite of the events of this past year, we were still able to make significant gains in membership with a 28 percent increase while we moved onto a firm financial footing. We did this while seeing inspiring electoral success by winning 20 percent of our races.

This proves that Americans are waking up to liberty and a historic opportunity for growth exists for the LP in 2008. However, in order to take advantage of this time, we need every last man and woman back in our party.

It’s time to come home.

Liberty is alive in America today but it is suppressed by the significance and power of the two-party system. Partisanship, combined with ignorance, is destroying our nation by taking away our freedoms and even the lives of those we love through wars of aggression.

The two-party system must be beaten back and destroyed.

Fighting from within either the Republican or Democratic structure does nothing to accomplish this goal and only increases our many problems as time, energy and money is wasted to change a monstrosity that is corrupt beyond repair.

Why fight to move your own party in the direction of freedom when you can fight each day to move your nation in the direction of freedom?

It’s time to come home.

Liberty is something that can be everything to one man and nothing to another. Some accept that, while they are born free, they do not live free. They go about their existence either in resignation that they cannot change their personal destiny or they have grown comfortable in their shackles.

Libertarians are different.

Our hearts burn for freedom. We wake each morning, intent on moving our nation in the direction of liberty.

Our passion cannot be diminished or compromised through party labels or the actions of cunning men. Libertarians working through the Libertarian Party will continually challenge those who mean to enslave us through taxation, fear and warfare.

It’s time to come home.

Among the many opportunities that exist for our movement, one of the most important is reaching out to the thousands of men and women whose passions have been ignited by the Ron Paul campaign.

All Libertarians must put out a welcome mat to these Americans as they continue to learn more about liberty but are now politically homeless. Most importantly, we must tolerate the minor differences that we may have and accept the differing stages of development of our political thought.

Many of you will be receiving a letter in the mail with the intent of welcoming Ron Paul and his supporters into our party. While that letter was written before the rush of recent events, it is vital that you respond to signal your support for giving these supporters a home within our party.

It’s time to come home and to offer a home to those whose minds have been opened to liberty.

In closing, I would like to give the following words to those who stubbornly continue their fight to change the corrupt and destructive Republican or Democrat parties from within.

“If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” – Samuel Adams, 1776

Our founding fathers did not hope to change the tyranny of British rule from within. They faced their challenge head on. They did not waver, even in spite of the very real possibility that they would lose their very lives against an overwhelming power. They stood together, and eventually they won their freedom.

It is up to us — we passionate Libertarians — to reclaim our liberty.

With respect and sincerity,

What role did Cato and Libertarians play in Dr. Paul’s campaign? Interesting Question

Feb 10, 2008 in Ron Paul General

The Enemy Within: Cato and its Covert Agenda

By Melinda Pillsbury Foster

No one at Cato does anything without an agenda. Over the last 30 years Cato has positioned itself as a major ‘think-tank’ in DC, becoming a proponent for policies that further the agenda for federalization when all is said and done. For months the institution behind the white marble walls in Washington DC has remained mostly silent on the Ron Paul Campaign, discussing the ‘real’ candidates and ignoring Dr. Paul.

Ask yourself why all of a sudden David Boaz at Cato and the gang at Reason would suddenly discover that there is a lot of support for Ron Paul’s candidacy? Earlier this year Boaz went out of his way to say in a comment written on 04.17.07 @ 9:46 pm,And apparently, the most notable contributor to Ron Paul is . . . Rob Kampia, director of the Marijuana Policy Project. It’s going to be a long campaign.

It could be that a continued silence would prove to be embarrassing, hence, this new comment from October 4th, 2007 by Boaz on the Cato Dispatch? Or are there other reasons as well?

David Boaz, a long time Cato employee said of the 3rd Quarter fundraising numbers, “Ron Paul’s amazing fundraising success — with no support from the Republican establishment and little attention from the mainstream media — is an indication of the wide appeal of his message of Constitutionalism, reduced spending, and an end to the Iraq war. In some ways Ron Paul is the antidote for every problem that plagued Republicans in 2006: Voters were tired of Republican corruption, and Ron Paul has never succumbed to the temptations of Washington. They were fed up with overspending, and he’s the original anti-spender. They’re disillusioned by the seemingly endless war in Iraq, and Ron Paul opposed that war from the beginning. He’s appealing to fed-up traditional Republicans and to younger voters who haven’t yet been Republicans.”

But what follows is actually more interesting. In another location, conveniently located at the bottom of the page comes this from “The Libertarian Vote. The Cato crowd have been watching developments for a long time, long enough to ensure their background positioning.

“”The main theme of political commentary in this decade is polarization. Since the battles over the impeachment of President Clinton and the Florida vote in 2000, pundits have been telling us that we’re a country split down the middle, red vs. blue, liberal vs. conservative. Political analysts talk about base motivation and the shrinking of the swing vote. But the evidence says they are wrong.

Not all Americans can be classified as liberal or conservative. For those on the trail of the elusive swing voter, it may be most notable that the libertarian vote shifted sharply in 2004. … If that trend continues into 2006 and 2008, Republicans will lose elections they would otherwise win. The libertarian vote is in play. At some 13 percent of the electorate, it is sizable enough to swing elections. Pollsters, political strategists, candidates, and the media should take note of it.”"

Cato knows all about polarization because for the last thirty years marginalizing and polarizing the electorate has been at the core of their own prosperity. Cato was founded by three people. Edward H. Crane, III, an eager financial adviser from Los Angeles with big ideas not matched with personal or professional ethics, Murray Rothbard, the honored but often volatile proponent for the free market, and Charles Koch, the CEO of a privately owned petroleum company that was profiting in Vietnam with Halliburton and is now profiting in Iraq with the same partners and receiving cost plus contracts in unlikely places. The links between the Kochs and Bushes are well known to insiders. One of the first acts of the Bush Administration in 2001 was to quash the nearly 400 major EPA violations enforced against Koch Industries.

Murray was ousted for asking questions at their first board meeting in 1981. His comments were loud. Murray was like that. At the time most of us thought the conflict was personalities. Today, the real explanation is more prosaic. Murray would be glad to know that he was right about the ‘cloven hoof’ exhibited by Crane and Cato.

Murray was clearly going to be a problem for Cato when they started positioning themselves as ‘free market.’ What was really happening was a broad sweep of corporatization coming in with the onslaught of the Reagan Administration. In case you had not heard Reagan was a NeoCon. The warning had gone out from United Republicans of California in 1975 with this Resolution, accompanied by three pages of documentation in 8 point type.

Some of the Cato donations still come from committed freedom activists and not major GRID corporations. But don’t imagine for a moment that those bare mentions are without further agenda. Events out of sight of most Ron Paul Activists have continued to develop

The third quarter fundraising reports showed Paul’s official campaign bringing in slightly over $5 million from 127,000 small contributors. That is major because those involved know that means a mainstream breakout that cannot be accounted for by old line libertarians or even the whole of the previous freedom movement.

The remarks made by the arrogant Catoites are still snarky and positioned to marginalize Paul but provide a repositioning for them that doubtless presaged a further move towards safe ground. Those who have profited through the Cato strategy so useful to the NeoCons knew perfectly well they are between a rock and a hard place.

Cato, Crane, and the Howie Cogs need to reposition themselves desperately. They might have been useful to the GRID corporations but there is no sign they will be protected in the conflict now coming. Better to have a foot in both camps. For months now there have been signs they want to move back into the now burgeoning movement and bring their wealth and centrist attitudes with them. They have a beachhead right there in DC.

The Paul campaign is not really the badly run, self aggrandizing office staff in Arlington Virginia, heavily weighted to either incompetent retread Libertarians or Cato graduates, the REAL campaign is out in the hinterland taking the ideas into the mainstream through sheer grit and determination, despite those at Head Quarters. Early ‘build out’ in the HQ tried diligently to control those elements, but failed. Now they settle for taking credit for work they had no positive role in creating.

This unpalatable truth is widely under discussion among local activists. Those who know Ron report that he is very trusting but the question of why there is no steering committee must be taken up. Such a committee should be made up of old time, trusted friends who have no links to Cato.

Most of the new, committed, activists were never previously political but report the same problems of arrogant, incompetent ‘directors’ sent from the DC office. Typical of those local activists is Linda Hunnicutt, a grandma from North Carolina who, although she is fighting lung cancer, still painted her RV Red, White and Blue, slathered it with Ron Paul signs and took to the road for Paul. Linda founded the Warrior Grannies to take America back.

“Linda Hunnicutt, the Granny Warrior, met Ron Paul for the first time in 2005 when she was on a personal crusade to stop the busibodiness of government. Linda had become aware that the U. S. Department of Agriculture was interfering with the right of individuals to own exotic animals and become active on the issue.”

But positioning itself to avoid the problem of being on the wrong side is only one motivation for the Cato Crew. Also worrying them is the indictment, with more to come, of one of their most trusted and central members. Paul Jacob was indicted in Oklahoma. Paul is a long time associate of the Crane Machine, working through the Howie Cogs in New York, now spread out across the country.

That story, which has long legs, and will eventually result in more indictments, began with a blogger, Hart Williams, of Oregon. Williams, a local activist who had been a working journalist for 30 years with various prestigious magazines and papers, noticed that the initiatives that would take control away from local people were coming from out of state sources who obviously did not want to be identified.

He started digging.

Eventually, he had the whole story which others, associated with more formal institutions, used to bring the Crane-Howie conspiracy to light. He was featured in a segment from PBS’s NOW early in the process. The story that came to light involved a long time courtship of John Walton, who at his death donated $300,000,000.00 to the excited and ambitious Howie Cogs to further their profitable work on behalf of GRID Corporations. The original corporate structure and its assets were donated by the Kochs for the use of Howie and Cogs. That became Americans for Limited Government. That transaction took place in the early 90s. The ‘branch office’ near Walton’s home was immediately closed, its purpose fulfilled.

The issue that concerns those who are working for freedom is that of defederalizing government to bring it back into alignment with the Constitution and ensure transparency. Despite the following attempt to reposition himself Jacobs’ work had nothing to do with freedom. The bald fact is that GRID corporations such as Koch Industries are not heroes in the Objectivist model; they are the problem. It is local residents of states who have the Constitutional right to determine their form of government. Reason promptly weighed in with support for Jacobs this morning, running this self-serving interview. Reason has also ignored the Paul Campaign until now.

“The difficulty of keeping a free country is involved in both cases. I’ve got a 7-year-old, I’ve got a 15-year-old, and a 23-year-old with an almost two-year-old son, and a wife who I like to think needs me. I don’t want to be going through this, but we have got to stop government from rolling over us. I didn’t choose this fight, but I’m going to fight these guys and we have to band together as a people. I have been moved in the last two days by the amount of good wishes and help pouring out from people left, right, and in between. I’m not going to let this politician in Oklahoma roll over our initiative rights, so I plan to fight with everything I got. I hope in the end we win and I think we will.”

The money that Jacobs and such other activists as Eric Dondaro, Leslie Keyes, and others have been ‘making’ was fed through the hands of Howie Cogs in lavish stipends and on to ‘initiatives’ that all work to the advantage of GRID corporations and to the detriment of ordinary people at the local level. That has always been the strategy they followed. The campaign to get ballot status for the Libertarian Party in California to benefit Crane candidate Ed Clark was known by activists to be using phony registrations but managed, barely, to avoid prosecution.

This was carefully concealed from Clark, who became alienated from the Crane Machine in the aftermath of the 1980 campaign as did most Libertarians.

Ron Paul is an honest, straight forward man, very unlike those associated with Cato. The Ron Paul Campaign is about getting local communities out of the grasp of federal control. Ironically, it was just yesterday that the Browns, IRS resisters in New Hampshire, were arrested by agents that the local sheriff could have told to get out. Sheriff Richard Mack, one of the proponents for the Mack - Printz Decision that in 1997 affirmed the sheriff of a county as having standing to order the Feds out has taken up the work of educating sheriffs across the country. That is an essential in the campaign for renewing local control.

Ron Paul Activists know that they in parallel with their Paul Campaign work need to provide local solutions in their own communities; a lack of transparency and control from GRID corporations only makes that more difficult.

Understanding how corporate money has worked to corrupt the Constitution, the rights of individuals and erase the borders between Federal control and local government that should be in the hands of the people needs to continue.
